Bei gutem Wetter sitzt man draussen direkt an einer belebten Kreuzung. Belebt ist hier positiv zu verstehen: viele interessante Leute laufen vorbei. Touristen sind hier eher seltener zu sehen -Trotzdem fühlt man sich wohl.
Bedienung ist flink, Essen ist tipptopp und preislich absolut ok (Lammkoteletts 15€, Filetsteak 13€, Bier ab 2,10)

Excellent Italian restaurant right in the centre of Brussels. Closed in the afternoon (from 3 to 6pm) this small gem serves great Italian food, fresh homemade pasta, and pizza. Lovely art nouveau interior, service is excellent and the prices are very good, considering the location. Has great ice cream to take away, too!

The major problem of "design hotels" is that they usually are not designed to endure. In other words, many of them tend to look worn and run down after a couple of years. I stayed in this charming hotel in Brussels in 2011, and I think it was still fairly new at that point. The design of the rooms is functional and has an elegant simplicity to it. Breakfast is not breathtaking but ok; the staff was thoroughly friendly. Free internet access helps a lot and although the area around the train station is not really a hot spot for the touristic visitor, the hotel's location is very convenient for business travelers. Through the standard booking web sites it is possible to get rather modest rates.
