BOOM IS BASED ON THE PRINCIPLES OF PEACE, CELEBRATION, PSYCHEDELIC CULTURE, ART, ENVIRONMENT, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND LOVE. THE IDEA IS TO CREATE A SPACE IN THIS TIME CONTINUUM IN WHICH PEOPLE FROM ACROSS THE WORLD CAN CONVERGE TO EXPERIENCE AN ALTERNATIVE REALITY – THUS INSPIRING US TO COLLECTIVELY CHANNEL THE UNIVERSAL TRUTH.

It is a festival dedicated to all free spirits. It is a celebration of intuition and telepathy where we witness a change in the way we communicate – eliminating the need for words.

Together, we have experienced the trance dance across some of the world’s most vibrant festivals, forests, beaches and parties: places where we’ve tuned in to the finest DJs and live acts and encountered the most invigorating vibes… In the process, we transformed ourselves, changing our attitudes and beliefs and the way in which we view the world.

Boom itself however, is more than just a sonic festival. It was spawned by the idea that our psychedelic experience can make a positive impact – not just in terms of our personal development, but also in terms of the universe around us.

Our thoughts, music, sculptures, paintings, clothes, films, photos, ideologies, experiences, communication, philosophies and much more enhance the possibilities of life and its experiences – and these are all magnetic energies that feed the ever-expanding nature of the Universe.

Boom was created to channel a cosmic message. It has embodied values such as peace, environmentalism, art, psychedelic culture, consciousness and love. In simple trance language it is simply, The Spirit of the Boom – and that spirit encompasses the true sense of interculturalism.

Back in 1997, a mere 3,500 enthusiasts converged in a pristine forest, transforming the Boom into a worldwide gathering that today resonates on a global scale with both the cybernetic and natural worlds.
Google analytics in fact, tell us that the Boom website (www.boomfestival.org) has been viewed by more than 1,200,000 people across 212 territories.

The 2008 edition witnessed an influx of 35,000 visitors from 85 countries. During the festival itself, close continuous and intimate contact is made between people from a spectrum of nationalities – allowing in the process, a more profound knowledge of the so-called “other.” It is therefore through such interpersonal relationships, discovered within an anti-status quo context, that we can begin to rid ourselves of the prejudices and stereotypes that pollute our perceptions.

The experience brings about a new awareness of the “differences” that we have been conditioned to believe in by the dominant cultural narrative – such as east versus west, or Christian versus Muslim.

As a result we tap into the purity found in the essence of our soul and in our spirit when truly transparent human relations begin to manifest and naturally we are drawn to cooperate, share, connect, learn from each other and change our behaviour and attitudes, thus bringing to light a new definition and notion of the “I” and of the “other.”

Through the interaction of people from different cultures, the Boom helps to manifest a new kind of awareness, exposing the true potential of psychedelia for bringing humans together.

PSYCHEDELIC KNOWLEDGE FOR A NEW PLANETARY CULTURE

The aim: to join a worldwide family in the present time continuum so that together we allow the Culture, the Love, the Sacred Earth and the Art to melt and merge, until eventually… BOOM! We all take one big step together…

Every culture expresses itself through its Art, which emanates through the myriad of shapes and expressions that it assumes. A cultural event as a means of expression does not simply focus on one aspect of Art, but on the WHOLE. Boom is an Art event, born from a culture, which has long grown in the margins of mainstream culture, culminating in new expressions and visions.

A whole world of people involved in the alternative, psychedelic and independent culture converge to show and share what they have discovered within the Consciousness Fractal, the Wholeness, the Oneness, the Truth.

The Spirit of the Boom calls upon every Boomer to take the most positive influences from the festival by actively participating in it. This is why Boom is more than just a dance-floor experience; it is a psychedelic portal for multi-sensory stimulation, activating and channelling the cosmic call.

The Spirit of the Boom therefore calls upon every Boomer to absorb this special energy and freely partake in the festival, thus contributing to our collective learning, understanding and development – making us stronger and wiser as we manoeuvre through the obstacles of life.

We do so while we remain humble in the realm of the unconditional love so essential for us to project to our fellow living beings and to our planet. This is the spirit of alchemy – the expansion of consciousness and the development of insight, connecting the human soul to the divine.

At the nexus of Boom’s multidisciplinary cultural spirit is the Liminal Zone, which has continued to present lectures, workshops, art galleries, permaculture gardens, a film festival and a program of visionary and avant-garde knowledge since the year 2000.

Within this vibrant hub, thinkers such as Vandana Shiva, Daniel Pinchbeck, Graham Hancock, Erik Davis; artists such as Alex Grey, Martina Hoffman, Android Jones, Carey Thompson, Luke Brown and Robert Venosa; techno-revolutionaries as Matt Black and Shipibo curandero/vegetalist, Don Guillermo Arevalo – have all made a profound contribution, helping plant the seeds of change and consciousness, the impact of their powerful voices resonating far beyond the Boom.

Boomers are a beacon of light that help spread the consciousness of our ever-expanding universe when they absorb the power of this positive influence – magnifying it by carrying it far and wide back to their homelands. The science of Gaia combined with the philosophical and spiritual discipline is making alchemists of us all; thus it is becoming increasingly important for us to be aware of this collective empowerment.

The festival’s Environmental Program contributes to this manifestation, representing a symbol of cosmic gratitude to the Earth as Boom continues to introduce the principles of permaculture and the implementation of technologies such as composting toilets, plant-based water treatment, bio-construction and clean energy such as solar and waste vegetable oil.

In the face of the catastrophic environmental consequences suffered by the Earth, we become empowered when we take such actions, helping us to provide solutions that work towards putting right the wrongs that have been committed against our world.

Both the irrational and the unconscious go un-judged at the Boom. It is a vast space for freedom – one in which we are allowed to gain form and feel freely inspired through art minus the conditioning, the reasoning or the morality.

It becomes an opportunity for expressing mind-expanding premises through the sphere of multidisciplinary arts, symbolism, spirituality and ancient futurism, culminating in a recipe for cultural transition.

Boom is developing a new meaning for the psychedelic culture of the 21st century. By applying psychedelia as a tool for change, we make an ode to art and contribute the knowledge that is necessary for a new planetary culture.

It is not just about passive resistance and the non-violent ideology of the flower power spirit… We are living through a diseased phase of the planet. By listening to the darkness of emotions that colour the sonic of psytrance, we must not only elevate higher and higher, but delve down and deep.

As Richard Tarnas puts it: “Enlightenment is not found through imagining figures of light, but through making the darkness conscious”.

Boom demonstrates how on both collective and individual scales, we are constantly surrounded by psychological and cosmic forces larger than ourselves. By harmonizing itself with the cosmic cycle of the August full moon, Boom is dreaming and awakening; appealing to the hearts of the conscious and the unconscious, and to all those that join us on this journey, every two years.

As Carl Jung sums it: “Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens”.
