D Day event, Lepe Country Park, Exbury, Southampton

Lepe Country Park is turning back the clock to the war years. There will be living history displays, military vehicles, bands playing music of the times and guided walks to learn about the D Day remains and the part that the New Forest played in the run up to the Normandy landings in 1944. You will even be able to sample war time specials such as Corned Beef Hash and Bread Pudding in the café.

On the Sunday morning there will be a parade of British Legion Standards along the seafront and a memorial service, with WWII veterans present, will be held on the cliff top. This is a chance not only to remember the sacrifices that were made for us all those years ago but to give thanks for all our current forces personnel and the work they do on our behalf.

The event is free but parking charges apply. Any donations collected will be sent to the Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes.
