I can’t believe people are offering offering ways in which to download Radiohead’s “IN/RAINBOWS” for free!!? For the first time in history a major band (without a record label’s backing) has released an album that you can download for a minimum of a credit card charge (£0.45) and you want to disempower the artist anyway.

Get your priorities straight; Radiohead have made a bold and important desicion here that gives power to artists and not a faceless corporation. By recording and distributing themselves, you know that your money is going to them and not some A&R guy’s Merc. I hope that responsible people will buy music like this in the future or we face an entertainment industry of watery, low production value, bad quality products.

It’s already happening; see the series ‘Heroes’ - high concept sure but low quality execution; bad acting, bad writing, shoddy visual effects (one scene in S2E5 takes place in Moscow, but it’s clearly a rushed green-screen composite in lui of sets or locations) and protracted plots full of reminders and flashbacks. If the artists thought everyone in the world wouldn’t download this, then perhaps they could afford to make the show they should.

What are your views?

Actually if you select £0.00 as the purchase price you don’t have to pay the 45p processing charge either :)

Bargin!
