I know Abaton has some movies in english, but Im looking for a place with more recent movies in original languages.
Sorry for the grim answer, but as far as I am aware, there are currently no “mainstream” cinemas in Hamburg which screen recent and current films in their original language. Grindel was the only one.
We are all saved!! (Well at least the Expats wishing for English movies!) I recently learned of this place last week. And got to experience it yesterday.
All I can say is “fantastic”. And get over there. Could’nt be easier to get too!
But Streit’s only shows English movies on Monday evenings, right? So, don’t hamper off and find it isn’t Monday. And there is a couple of other theaters that show some films in English http://hamburg.stadtus.de/kino/kinoprogramm.html look out for OMU (original language with subtitles) most films are originally in English.

Look at this programme listing. They are showing OV (Original Version) and OMU (Original Version with German subtitles) the whole week through!
