The Brixton Academy - Brixton

211 Brixton, Brixton, London SW9 9SL

05.01.2008 (aktualisiert am 28.05.2008)

At this venue I have spent quite a few memorable nights.
The atmosphere at this venue is unique in its own right and gets completely electric during gigs, which is why I like it so much. The size of the place is just perfect - large enough to hold a rather big crowd, but still small enough for the gig not to become impersonal, for the gig to be intimate in a way that it could never be, had the size of the place been larger. Also, I must mention that light and sound always seem to function perfectly at gigs at this venue, whichm at most other establishments is not always the case.
I warmly recommend this place to anyone interested in going out and listening to music. This venue creates the perfect framing for a perfect night out.

Dead and Buried - Holloway

166-220 Holloway Road, The Rocket (London Metropolitan University), London N7 0RN

07.01.2008

Dead and Buried is a wonderful event that takes place at The Rocket, London Metropolitan University, on the 1st Friday of every month.
The party lasts from 21.00 - 03.00, and the music played there by the skilled djs is Goth, Gothabilly, Postpunk, Deathrock, Batcave and Punk.
The place is quite easy (and well worth!) finding as it is very close to Holloway tube station.
Obviousely, there is a dresscode that says that you have to dress for the occation, for the music, which, as stated above, is in the vein of Goth and punk. If you just follow the dresscode and are over 18, you will have no problem getting inside.
Once inside, it will be time for enjoyment, that is to say, time for dancing the night away to the tunes.
Drink prices are on the average, and if you enjoy the kind of music played here, you will not be disappointed. Not in the least!
With the exception of Slimelight every saturday, this is probably the most enjoyable party event there is in London. Or at least it quaifies as one of them.

Templar Yay Cavey Nik

The Disney Store - Westminster

98+99 Whitgift Centre, London CR0 1US

07.01.2008

Ah, The Disney Store!
Who would have thought that I actually love, love, love this shop?
Every time I go in here it reminds me of my childhood, and since I have a little brother of no more than eight years, I have an excuse to go here every time I have to get him a present. Going here always brings me in a nostalgic mood.
Here you can find any (and I mean any) character from each and every film ever created by Disney. You can get the beloved Disney characters either as teddy bears or printed on all imaginable kinds of merchandise - mugs, bags, shirts, everything. Even umbrellas.
If you ever had a love of Disney or have to buy a nice, sweet present for a child, then, by all means, go here!

Waterstone's - Ealing

64 Ealing Broadway Centre, London W5 5JY

07.01.2008

As a lover of books, I am also a lover of this chain of well-equipped bookstores. A great lover, and for very obvious reasons. For starters, as I said, this bookstore is well-equipped. It has a very large selection of books of any genre, and on any subject.
As is the case with all good bookstores, I can spend hours and hours just going through the range of books, reading on the covers, perhaps searching for a specific title, before choosing a few to bring home to my ever-expanding collection.
One more thing worth knowing about this lovely bookshop, and about all other Waterstones bookstores for that matter, is that you can get a card that works pretty much in the same way as a Nectar Card from Sainsburys, only, with this Waterstones Card, you collect points every time you purchase a book. Eventually these points will have reached so high a number that you will get a book for free.

Eclipse Tattoo and Piercing Studio - Camden

204 Camden High Street, London NW1 8QU

07.01.2008

I must admit that I have not yet gotten any tattos or piercing at this parlor, but that, I can assure you, is only a temprorary state of things.
I went to Eclipse Tattoo when one of my friends wanted a tattoo on her arm, and I must say, I was very impressed by how professionally and skilled the work was carried out.
Though located in a basement on the high street, Eclipse Tattoo is not too difficult to find as there is always a guy standing in front of the place holding a big sign or handing out flyers.
As far as I am concerned, this is pretty much the best place to go and get tattoos or piercings, and it is not even one of the pricey places.

Wagamama - Soho

10a Lexington Street, Soho, London W1F 0LD

07.01.2008

Wagamama is an internationally renouned chain of restaurants selling freshly made japanese food of the most delicious quality.
This Wagamama is perfectly located for eating out before going to the theatre or the cinema, and you never have to wait for too long to get your food, even though it is cooked prepared from scratch.
The menucard has many interesting meals worth trying, but I usually go for chicken curry and rice with a nice salad.
Wagamama is always busy, but never so much so that you feel like you need to be in a rush to finish your plate.
Prices are normal restaurant prices, I guess, this being around 8 pounds for a meal.
The service is great, and the waiters always make sure to come by your table to check that you are satisfied with your food.
The location, the service, the food - it can not get much better than this.

The Shaftesbury Theatre - Soho

210 Shaftesbury Avenue, Charing Cross, London WC2H 8DP

07.01.2008

My dance-loving sister took me to see this show, and I was indeed very surprised by how it managed to catch my attention, and touch my heart.
This performance is best described as a fusion between a musical and a dance show, why it is very unique, and a must-see if you are into either of the above (musicals and dancing, that is). Even if you are not, I think this show will amaze you.
The story is clearly directed at a young audience, as the story is about a bunch of youngsters from a most prestigious dance academy who all dream of becoming famous. During the performance we get under the skin, inside the minds of these young and hopeful individuals, we follow their struggles, we watch their dreams fly high or fall through the cracks of the floor.
It is easy to get carried away and feel yourself well entertained by all the songs, and, of course, the brilliant dancing.

The Lion King Musical - Covent Garden

21 Wellington Street, Lyceum Theatre, Covent Garden, London WC2E 7RQ

07.01.2008

The Lion King is an amacing show that will exceed your expectations!
I went to see it with my mum and my sister a few moths back, and it was a truly wonderful experience.
Being a big fan of theatre and musicals in particular, I had already seen The Lion King performed when on holidays in Germany. But I must say, this version is better.
Forget about animated Disney lions, forget about the lions you can go and see in the zoo. This is the real thing!
These lions have a fascinating story to tell, a story about love, power and betrayal. And oh, can these lions sing and dance in a way that makes it more than delightful to witness!

Phantom of the Opera - Westminster

Her Majesty’s Theatre, Haymarket, Westminster, London SW1Y 4QL

07.01.2008

The Phantom of the Opera is one of the most excellent musicals I have ever seen in my entire life, and I have seen many!
The story is so moving that it will slide under your skin like molten metal, theacting is so brilliant that it will take your breath away and the songs as well as the voices of the actors are so beautiful that it will have you crying! At least, this is a the effect it had on me.
I had watched the film before going to see the show, and so my expectations were high. Very high. And yet they were exceeded by far!
I was amazed, I was thrilled, I was moved!
I would not have exchanged this amazing experience for anything, and the rather expensive ticket I had to invest in to get to see the show was so very well worth its every cent.
A night at this theatre, watching this musical, is an experience that you cannot, by any circumstances, miss.
If you have not gone to see this theatrical play already, then, by all means, go and see it right away!
And if you, like me, have seen it already, then, by all means, go and see it again! And again and again.
A true love story such as this can never get boring.

KFC - Camden

239 Camden High Street, Camden, London NW1 7BU

07.01.2008

Kentucky Fried Chicken on Camden High Street is the most excellent one of its species that I have ever encountered.
Not only is the service the most efficient yet witnessed by me, the orders are also carried out by most friendly staff members.
And the food, of course, cannot be complained about.
There is seating in the restaurant, and remarkably comfortable at that, for a fastfood restaurant.
Opening times are great - this KFC is usually open till around 2 am, so no matter at what hour you come staggering home, starving and tired after a night on the city, this is where you should drop by for a quick bite. My compliments to this establishment, the only fastfood restaurant in the world (well, this is maybe a bit exhaggerated) that I will admit that I actually like.
