Scottish Power - Edinburgh

Telferton House Fishwives Causeway, Edinburgh, Scotland EH7 6UX

07.11.2007

Scottish Power, all my dealings with them have been horrific..... Except for today! I put money on my gas card to top up my meter and all day long i was trying to get the heating to come on. Nothing! So i called up the company to explain what was going on. Usually the calls last for at least 10 minutes before you are put through to a real person, not today within 5 minutes i was talking to someone. After explaining my situation the lady on the phone said that she thought something was really wrong and that i needed to have an emergancy call out. So on hold i went, a few minutes later she came back saying i don't want to alram you but you need to open all your windows, turn off your meter and someone will be at the house in the next hour to see what the problem is. Great i thought although a little worried. I was sitting thinking in the next hour yeah sure i am going to be sitting here all night freezing cold waiting on the gas man. 15 minutes later a knock at the door - Scottish Power. I was in shcok if truth be told. He came in, fixed what had gone wrong, wished me a good day and left. Now i have a nice warm house. Today within 20 minutes of making a phone call my problem was fixed. I have nothing bad to say about the emergancy service of Scottish Power i am one very satisfied customer.

The Little Inn - Edinburgh

1 Johnston Terrace, The Royal Mile, Edinburgh, Scotland EH1 2PW

06.11.2007

I found this little place at the top of the Royal mile one day when i was really hungry. It is very small inside but you are welcomed by really friendly people. Very willing to help. I loved this place so much because when i asked for a bacon bagette with brown sauce - that is exactly what i got! I was expecting the usual two maybe three slices of bacon that would normally be the rationing per person. You can imagine the surprise on my face when i counted at least eight slices on my bagette all covered in brown sauce. For the amazing price of £1.80. They also make the yummiest freashly made flavoured milkshakes..... Everything is cheap, well made and is served by a friendly face. How can you go wrong?

Fountain Park Leisure Complex - Edinburgh

Dundee Street, Edinburgh, Scotland EH11 1AF

06.11.2007

I went to Fountain park last night to celebrate passing my first assessment at college with my class mates. We decided just to have a few games of pool at £1 a game. A little pricey (when you are having 10 games) but hey the place was fairly quiet as it was a weekday evening. I beat a couple of the boys which was fun for me, they weren't too impressed though. Someone mentioned playing a game of bowling to which everyone gasped "i don't have enough money for that" However it turned out that for just £2.50 with a student card you can play a game. It was a great night. Cheap and cheerful for students. Friendly atmosphere. It was quiet (because it was a weekday evening) The music was not great but up-to-date, pop chart wise. The facilities no-one could fault, there are numerous pool tables and lots of spacious seating areas. The arcade games at the entrance although small have a great variety of games like house of the dead, dancing games, basketball nets, air hockey... In the corridor leading to the cinema area of the complex is a simulator ride. It costs £5 for two people and is like sitting in a little space shuttle. You close the door and pick your senario. The shuttle you are in moves around and jerks about and the screen inside shows you what direction you are moving in. It is like a virtual rollercoaster! On the outside of the shuttle (i was inside laughing and screaming with one of the other girls) the boys were watching! Thats right, there was a camera inside sending a live feed to a monitor outside with me and my friend on it (broadcasting!) The boys started to video this on their mobile phones. They could also see on a small screem what we could see on the inside. It was so much fun we all had a good laugh about it when we were heading home. We all left in a good mood without spending loads of money. I would recommend all students on a tight budget should go here for a couple hours. I know we will be going back.

Londis - Edinburgh

3 Clovenstone Park, Wester Hailes, Edinburgh, Scotland EH14 3BG

Londis is the small shop accross the road from my flat. Although part of a huge chain, my shop has a real Intimate feeling inside. The staff are are mostly local woman who clearly live close by and are extremely friendly - they seem to know everyone! Mr. Amjad is an older man who works there. He is one of the family members who run the store. I have been visiting this shop reguarly for four years and never really thought much about the people until last week. Mr. Amjad (who wears a hearing aid and doesn't talk much) smiled at me as soon as i walked in. For a man of little words this made me feel part of the community. Some people may call this sad - but i think it just goes to show that no matter how big a company is or how much money it takes in as a profit, establishing a good relationship with your customers is the key to success. Sure some of the items they sell are over priced but it is still where i will go on a sunday morning if i have ran out of milk, bread or fags! Everytime i go in the staff smile at me, i have now started to have more of a conversation with them. The usual, it is really windy out today banter that you get. I now always wish them a good day and i think this year i will send them all a christmas card!
