Little Tiger Bar

Beste Bar in Südgoa! Auch abends sehr entspannt.

Tarabuk - Warschau

Browarna 6, 00-311 Warszawa

22.03.2009

Tarabooks is a cafe and bookstore. They have a nice collection of english and polish books. The cafe is really cosy, with different sofas, chaires and tables, colourful lamps, pictures and book shelves. Its an ideal place to meet with friends and talk cause the music is not too loud. There is free wifi so you can also come and work or do internet stuff. It has a very calm seperate room which is ideal for that. They have much better tea as the average Warsaw cafe and a greater choice too. The coffee is very good and the homemade cakes I tasted so far were all excellent. They serve tea in mugs, teapots and big teapots and you can always ask, if they can add hot water when you are done with the tea. Its a good place for kids, they have a kids corner with toys and noone cares when kids run around. Its not expensive and the service is good. All in all a very nice, rather leftist-intellectual place for reading, working and relaxing.

German Bakery - Panaji

Benaulim, Panaji

15.03.2009

When you are in the south of Goa, its really nice to go around by bike. And on such a trip you should not miss the German Bakery in Benaulim. Located at the central intersection of Benaulim the street bakery does not only sell all kinds of bred and rolls, cakes and cookies but also a good tea. Its wonderful to get a tea and some cookies and sit down in front of the bakery (actually theres only one chair but theres a pretty high stone edge) and watch the “traffic”. Very original and very tasty place!

The Good Companions - Kolkata

Russel Street 13, Calcutta

15.03.2009

The Good Companions is a store for home textiles. They have different kinds, but the most amazing are the bed- and tablecloth, bags and towels with flower stitching. Its all handmade, the price is fair and the service really good. Very good place for an extraordinary souvenir.

Oxford Bookstore - Kolkata

Park Street, Calcutta

15.03.2009

Oxford Bookstore is a place of great atmosphere. From noisy and lively Park Street you enter a quiet and calm store, with a great choice of books, especially on India and the area, but also on every other subject. The order of the books on the shelf is sometimes hard to understand so its best to ask if you look for something special and otherwise just look around. I can spend hours there. The staff ist helpful and friendly. Look also at the beautyful postcards and diaries downstairs.

science city - Kolkata

JBS Haldane Avenue, EM Bypass, East, 700046 Calcutta

15.03.2009

Indeed science city is an interesting place. But it might be hard to get in. It can be pretty crowded, and you have to be careful not to lose your nervs fighting for your place in the queue. Better choose a weekday to go.

new market - Kolkata

lindsay street, 700013 Calcutta

15.03.2009

The New Market is the right place for a whole shopping day as well as for souvenir shopping. Theres an incredible variety of shops selling all kinds of textiles, jewellery and basically everything else. It is cheap and very colourful. Outside the market the streets are crowded with sellers.
In the market you can get yoga pants, all kinds of colourful Indian dresses, scarfs, gold and silver but also cheaper jewellery. Market boys will offer their help in finding places. It might be better to hire one, cause otherwise you will be asked again and again. Take your time for the market cause its big and theres a lot to buy and even more to see.

petercat resturant - Kolkata

Park Street, Park Street, 18/a, 700016 Calcutta

15.03.2009

Peter Cat is indeed a very nice restaurant right in the center, very close to Flury and Oxford Bookstore. The food is great, not only the more exotic sizzlers, but also the “simpler” things. As in most Indian restaurants they have a good choice of vegetarian dishes. The design is antique Indian, dark and cosy. Worth a visit!

Flower Market - Kolkata

unterhalb der Howra Bridge, Calcutta

15.03.2009

The flower market is located right next to Howra bridge, on the side of Kolkata, right before you enter the bridge on the left side. Its crowded and incredibly colourful. People sell all kinds of flowers, but mostly flower chains for worship. The mass of flowers is amazing, its just a place one has to see in Kolkata. Best to visit in the morning. Its nice to take a walk across Howra bridge and take a look into Howra train station afterwards.

Backbord - St. Pauli

Clemens-Schultz-Strasse 41, 20359 Hamburg

13.03.2009

Backbord is a bar and restaurant, styled like a sailors pub but not like a typical tourist trap but simple and very nice. You have a very good choice of liqueurs and beer. The food is regional and simple in style and very tasty. Its a meeting point for St.pauli supporters and leftist people. Great staff, great music, a place you do not want to leave anymore.
