I visited the shrine on Sunday 20th January 2013 and managed to get some wonderful pictures of Marc Bolan’s memorial in the snow. It looked amazing covered in a blanket of white. A Marc winter wonderland. Nature is so organic creating such beauty.

TooRex last night. Full of Boley fans. Makes you kinda forget the sticky floor.:)

GipsyLane77 There is a very nice page on Facebook dedicated to sharing pictures and memories from fans about the place where he was tragically killed in an accident in 1977. “Marc Bolan shrine tribute page”, check it out. This year a Marc Bolan convention is being held in Sweden. This is pulling out all the stops. The admission includes various bands, the actor from the Marc Bolan musical will be performing, Andy Ellison, a Bolan boat to an island inclusive of barbeque, Born to boogie movie with popcorn, swimming pool and a ride in some classic cars. Dinner and drinks. An excellent deal for a weekend of Bolanic fun and music in Sweden.

GipsyLane77 The Lexington in Islington. really nice pub downstairs with good food and music. Upstairs clubby/disco/ live acts. This coming Sunday 27th January 2013 features Alan Merrill and the Arrows from America. So if you feel like a “Touch Too Much” and you love to “Rock and Roll”, it all kicks off at 8pm. Tickets £10 on the door.

Golders Green Crematorium - Golders Green

1 October 2012

This weekend September 30th  2012 celebrated the 65th birthday of Marc Bolan. Fans and family of Marc Bolan visited Golder’s Green crematorium to pay tribute and decorate the new bench that now sits opposite Marc Bolan’s resting place. It is a beautifully carved and awesome tribute to him. A carved swan takes pride on the back of the bench and the arm rests boast two carved Unicorns. Some of his family decorated the hedge with balloons, a baby photo of Marc and Boa’s. There were many visitor’s during the day from 11.30 onwards including some relatives. Marc Bolan died on the 16th September 1977 , two weeks before his 30th birthday.  A girl named Crystal came all the way that day  from her country  to meet up with someone but they didn't turn up for the second time. so other fans kept her company and shared stories. It turned out to be a lovely day for her despite her original let down. The Bolan fans are quite a community it would seem, a sort of family. Worth a visit and the bench is a great tribute.

Nuay's Thai Bistro - Barnes

373 Lonsdale Road, Barnes, London SW13 9PY

Situated in the old stables behind The Bulls Head in Barnes. Lovely  family  run restaurant. Excellent food and very good value for money. There is an outdoor area within the courtyard and food can also be ordered to eat within the pub itself. Very quick service. They first happened upon Barnes when they ran the Thai food from The Sun Inn Church Road Barnes. Friendly staff and management.

Treehouse - London

73, White Hart Lane, Barnes, , London SW13 0PW

An excellent restaurant/Bar. The Treehouse has a really nice local vibe to it. The decor is enticing, it's cosy and comfortably as well as being friendly. The outdoor space is situated front and back. The back garden has excellent heating and blankets and really pleasant to sit out on summer or winter. In the decked area there is a Marquee that shelters you on rainy days, also furnished with a heater. It is lit up by fairy lights and small lanterns, the garden is walled off  protecting you from the wind. There is a  large function room  upstairs and a smaller one for around 10 people. The food is always excellent here and the manager Ettiene is always hospitable and helpful. We had a lovely closing dinner there last night.Thank you to all the management and staff for the good service. Average price dinner per head £22. I highly recommend it. By bus from Hammersmith...209/419  one  after Barnes Bridge Station. By train from Waterloo to Barnes Bridge Station. 18 mins and a ten minute walk.

The Spencer Arms - Putney

237 Lower Richmond Road, Putney, London SW15 1HJ

08.11.2012

Lovely pub that is not too long a walk from Barnes Station. From the station you get to walk past the place Marc Bolan of T.Rex crashed in his mini in 1977. You will notice tributes and flowers there.  The Spencer Arms is a very friendly pub. It has changed management three times over the past three years but remains friendly and cosy. The menu is varied and the food good. Ask the management or bar staff about the Marc Bolan Fans Visitors book.Sit back, relax and leave your written tributes in it over a drink or three. The pub expands out onto the common during the summer months and gets very busy.

Beautiful tribute to a beautiful man from fans all over the world. The original Gardenia 16. Might I add that the house is in East Sheen and the Shrine in Barnes which may be helpful to fans in search of the exact location.
