Mediocre quality and poor value: overcooked vegetables, bland flavours, dishes bulked out with a bed of shredded cabbage. Not what I expect for about £7-8 a dish. Not recommended.

Offering a range of dishes adapted for British tastes from a template used all over the country. Authenticity debatable and quality quite acceptable. Don't expect bells and whistles and you won't be disappointed.

Friendly and typically expensive cornershop. shame about the litter-strewn square outside.

The meat and other produce that I have had are good but not particularly adventurous, catering largely for traditional tastes. The staff are skilled and competent in their trade. Recently disappointed however by a rude and patronising attitude from one of the butchers. I shan't be using this butcher for the foreseeable future as a result.

On our visit the decor was faded inside and out and the food was mediocre.

The best thing about this place is the blessed relief from naff chintz-dominated, cheap decor/furniture that are so common in British B&B's.

Closed down in the great Monmouth curry house wars of 2010.

It's a budget supermarket built with German breeze blocks. Understaffed, but that's part of the business model to keep prices cheap. Quality is not bad and there are some surprising bargains on continental foods for which you'd pay twice the price in Waitrose, where the standard of banter with cashiers is higher. Enjoy the skateboard stunts of the local youth in the carpark.
