I had been past Q-Verde many times but never thought to pay it a visit, until I read a few glowing reviews on Qype.
Sadly I was very disappointed.. To start, our table linen and cutlery were dirty (unforgiveable in my books), and the 'Q-Verde Pasta Special’ I ordered was very mediocre, and consisted of no more than 4 mouthfuls. Perhaps they were just having a 'bad night’, but I really don’t get what all the fuss is about..

This cosy French bistro in the heart of Kew Village has a quaint atmosphere and is always busy in the evenings. Well-proportioned classic French dishes are on offer at reasonable prices, and the Coq au Vin in particular is a must.

A real hidden gem just off Oxford Street. With a large selection of cafes, pubs, bars and restaurants, including Carluccio’s, Apostrophe and La Tasca to name a few, this is the perfect place to get away from the usual West End tourists after a long day of shopping. Unfortunately however it seems the secret is out, as it is increasingly difficult to get a table at these ever popular restaurants.

Lovely restaurant in Sloane Square. Have only been here once but had a very enjoyable time. The restaurant has a formal atmosphere but the staff are very friendly and attentive. There is a good selection of wines on offer, and their artichoke and pea risotto was absolutely melt in you mouth - without a doubt the best risotto I have ever tasted.

Simple, fresh and delicious Italian food, I have never had a meal here I didn’t enjoy. The veal milanese is incredibly generous in size and very tasty, and their regularly changing specials means there is always something new to try. A favourite with locals, it’s advisable to get here before 7pm if you haven’t booked a table.

You will struggle to find a better steak in London. This branch of Gaucho Grill is ideally situated by the Thames with glass walls providing an uninterrupted view of the river, and with a lovely outdoor seating area for when the weather permits.
This is a fantastically atmospheric place to go for dinner, with a delicious selection of food on offer. It would be a great shame to come here and not order a steak, but they do offer some good alternatives. The staff are very knowledgeable, taking the time to explain the different cuts of beef on offer.
There is not one dish on the menu I would not recommend, but my absolute favourite has to be the bife de lomo, a silky soft fillet steak, accompanied by humitas, a wonderful puree of sweetcorn wrapped and roasted in plantain leaf. The wines and cocktails on offer are just as tantalising as the steak.

The perfect place for a leisurely Sunday brunch. Balan’s has a relaxed and friendly vibe, and offers a fantastic selection of breakfast favourites including three types of pancake, six types of eggs benedict, plus a great selection of teas and coffees.
I would recommend the banoffi pancakes: two large, gorgeously fluffy buttermilk pancakes served with banana in a dulce de leche-style sauce. Incredibly tasty and incredibly filling! Staff are very friendly and accommodating, and when the sun is out the large outdoor seating area is ideal.

This may not be the most amazing coffee house in all of London, but it is definitely the best in the London Bridge area. Yes the decor is 'different’, with paper-cup lampshades and breezeblock walls, but it’s still a great place to chill out, especially for those who work in the area and want a break from the office. There is a good selection of organic salads and sandwiches on offer, albeit pre-packed, and the coffees and teas are the real thing. The idea of this place is to not take things too seriously, it’s just a fun cafe where you can grab a cup of coffee or a quick lunch. An added touch is the jar of doggie biscuits at the back for whoever happens to have brought their canine friend along.

Wonderfully eclectic decor with a fresh, organic and interesting menu, the Garrison is definitely one of the best gastro-pubs in the London Bridge area. Whether it’s sweetcorn soup, a bacon and avocado sandwich, kedgeree or even a simple cheese on toast, I have never had a meal here that I didn’t really enjoy. I’ve only ever been here for lunch, but imagine the ambience is just as good if not better in the evening.

Lovely ambience and fantastic food, one of Chiswick’s hidden gems. The atmosphere is formal but staff are friendly and very accommodating. The vacherin platter was generous in proportion and definitely a must for cheese fans, and the venison fillet was one of the best I have ever tasted. Great selection of wines on offer at varying prices.
