The Cafe de Paris (outside) is the best place to sit and people watch as its dead centre to the casino and Hotel de Paris. I was with a group of freinds and were looking for some place to eat in the evening and was able to actually book a table for that same evening which was great as we didn’t have to look round and search everywhere. The food and wine list was extensive and yes expensive but that’s what you should always expect in Monaco. The food was really nice, smallish potions though, not a problem for us as we were heading off to party afterwards:-) The service was however a little slow, but not a big problem, it was really busy so understandable. This place is definatley a good spot to go and sit outside during the day or night and people watch.

Bar Americano is actually a bar in the grand Hotel de Paris adjacent to the Monte-Carlo Casino. It is primarily a Jazz Bar, lots of cigar smoke and brandy’s going round with people who have lots of money to spend, but hey, it’s a great place to sip a cocktail to start your night off with!! I went there with a group of friends and kindly asked if we could get a table and be served some cocktails. Of course as we were all dressed up (which I reckon is a must really for this place during a Saturday evening) this wasn’t a problem and it was very civilised to sit and chat to my friends, listening to a great jazz singer and watching couple’s dance. The cocktails were fab, none of that over the top sparkler business and lots of fruit splilling over, just ‘big’ fancy glassers with a straw and one peice of fruit and yes you can taste the alcohol:-) They were 20 euro a pop but worth the money considering the bar we were in. This is a great bar to have drinks with friends and actually be able to hear each other speak and a great place to start your evening off.

The Sass Cafe in one word is ‘Excellent’. One of the best bars I’ve ever been too, and there have been many:-) It’s only a small place but the atmosphere is electric and I’m sorry but if you don’t enjoy yourself, there is something up!! There is just one thing to remember, and that is it doesn’t get going until about 12am, if you get there earlier then people are eating meals and you think it’s just an eating place, well take it from me it isn’t after 12am. There is a live singer, she had an excellent voice and sang all the modern songs, like Amy’s Valerie but with lots of rythem. You can dance on the table’s and chairs and the waiters every now and then come round with huge fat sparkers for people to hold and dance with, which light up the whole room. Whenever somebody buys a bottle of champagne these sparkers come attached which is really cool. I was with a group of girls all as mad as eachother and we got talking to a group of Stockbrokers who originate in the uk but live in Monaco and they simply wanted our company so had a great night singing and dancing to all the 80’s and 90’s music and of course drinking champange and bottles of vodka no strings attached. The Sass Cafe is full of escort girls who sit there looking pretty wanting drinks bought for them all night so I guess they were a little put out with us taking their space, but we didn’t care as we were there to have lots of fun and enjoy the music and dancing. We spent the rest of the evening in there until about 4am and went back the following night before moving onto Jimmy’z (see my other review). An excellent bar to visit and if you feel like clubbing afterwards Karment Club is just across the road, plus there are lots of other bars along this same avenue.

For me at least, being in a group of girls, Jimmy’z nightclub was the only place we were going to end up in on the Saturday night. I’d read and heard so much about the place that we simply had to go there and experience it first hand and I must say I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. It’s a great club, and definately one of the grandest entrances I’ve ever seen; of course there is valet parking, hedges and palm trees all lit up, and not arriving until about 2am there was no queue and no entrance fee, which I thought there would have been. The club is huge, lots of seating areas inside and out and a great dancefloor, the music was quite ‘heavy’ but I still managed to have a bop. The drinks, as everybody will tell you are really expensive, but hey, you just have to accept that or otherwise just don’t go. We all had such a laugh, we even got champange and drinks bought for us as I guess we were looked upon as a group of girls just out to have fun and not neccessarily there to pick up rich men and get drinks bought for us all night, which you see happening everywhere by the way. We didn’t leave until about 6am, it was daylight outside and we managed to get a cab to fit us all into, which was great. I will definately be going back to Monaco and to Jimmy’z, a great club, unlike any other I’ve been too in the UK or around the world for that matter!!
