Boulangerie Patisserie de Deux Ponts - Ile Saint Louis

This is a wonderful small bakery on the Ile Saint Louis. The baguette tradition is great, as are the croissants, but my personal highlight are the "croissants amande" (with almonds), that must be the best I have so far found in Paris.

I loved the "Roves de Garrigues" here, a cheese my cousin recommended because it tastes of the herbs the goats eat all day long in the mountains. And the "Lingot de la Ginestarie" can hold it's own very nicely in a baguette tradition. Lovely!

I just love the selection of french cheeses at the fromageries in Paris. Here in particular the very delicate & smooth ash coated "Pave Cendre" and the "St. Marcellin". Wonderful!

It was the length of the cue that attracted me to this bakery when I walked down Rue Mouffetard, but when I tried the "croissants beurre" (with lots of butter) and the (baguette) "tradition" I knew why people were standing in this absurdly long line. These must be the best croissants I have had in Paris so far. Amazing! And the baguette was great as well.

If you are on the move in the 7th arrondissement and in need of a coffee & free WiFi this might be the place to go. While the Espresso was rather mediocre the slightly place has a good vibe. Tell them I said they better work on their Barista-Skills ;-)

This is a choice place for a good, inexpensive coffee served in a nice environment. An eXpresso for 1,50 € is fine, and you get some milk if you ask, so lean back, relax and and watch the people mill along outside.

Since I have returned from my last trip to India I have not seen so many of the typical sweets. Incredible!

I came accross this place while strolling through Le Marais, didn't know if I should trust it, but it was full, the people looked happy and the prices were OK so I tried it out--and it rocks!
I was given a glass of plum-wine and crab chips when I sat down, when I'd ordered I received a light, non-salty Miso-soup & salad (Crudités), and my Sashimi-boat arrived while I was indulging in the starters. Good tasting, smooth fish, a very friendly service, and some cold Sake & sesame-covered nougat rounded the meal up nicely.
(BTW, the sake was served in a rather naughty cup that showed a naked woman when full--which becomes invisible when you drink it out. I wonder what the women see in their cups ;-)

I very much enjoyed eating at La Place, on the top floor of Amsterdam's public library. They had a great selection of antipasti and several main dishes, and the home fries I picked were excellent. I'll definitely be back.

The french bakery (Ambachtelijke Franse Bakkerij) of the brothers (Gebr.) Niemeijer features a very nice selection of french bakery in a cosy setting, slightly off the beaten touristy tracks.
