Just across the bridge in Mainz is a great “steakhouse” by western standards. Finally!! A steak that is cut as a black angus, filet mignon and not a rinderfleish(rump steak cut). With a 200gram(7oz.) or 300 gram(10.5oz.) , well trimmed, and even better cooked and flavored steak this is the place that can actually satisfy your craving for a real steak. I tried them all over wiesbaden and this is the best. They do have ribeye if that is your thing too. The environment is more like a cafe (about 40 top), but clean, bistro sized, with friendly staff who try to make you feel at home as they are English friendly / tolerant and deliver good service. The red wines are well chosen and the pour is not skimpy… baked potato and salad and you are set. prices are reasonable for this type of meal. you wont be disappointed. bonus= they take american express.

This place is so good i wanted to keep it a secret but this place deserves to be known. They easily serve one of the best breakfasts in downtown area where you can get it all, scrambled eggs with mushrooms and tomatoes, fresh fruit, deli meats and cheeses, fresh bread, and bowls -yes bowls- of cappuccino. For lunch and dinner favorites include hand tossed, thin crust, fresh topping, brick oven pizzas and pasta with sliced beef filet. They are English friendly - helpful staff with English menus and take amex. Midway down the street, they well located in a clean, good vibe location. Prices are on par with similar Italian places. You can eat open air or inside with great background music to set the mood. They do a midday value meal for 8.50Euro.This place is a real find.

fresh soup daily with about 5 choices. comes with bread and several vegetarian friendly options. fresh squeezed juices too. feel healthy and have a reasonably priced and filling meal. seating is somewhat limited - one 4 top inside, 1 table outside, a few other 2 tops. pleasant staff and clean looking kitchen. short walk from the center of marketstrasse. Only negative is limited hours. lunch only 11-3pm.

great location with view. ‘lumen sandwich’ is tasty for US palate and reasonable. some english friendly staff (george!) somewhat stuffy crowd though. drinks well made but pricey. outside seating very sunny, inside with trendy music and modern decor. worth a try and easily a recommended lunch spot to bring out of town visitors.

owner is friendly and english savvy. cheery, comfy, decor (large windows, red accents, leather sofa inside and padded chairs out) great corner with sunshaded outside seating. tasty toasted bagels and berry or choc flav’d muffins. no lite cream cheese…prices average to high for quantity(3-5 euro per item). no free wifi unlike some other places. clean, free, bathrooms. good background music playing. (thankfully) feels local if expanding horizons beyond starbucks.
