Odette's - Primrose Hill
130 Regent's Park Road, London NW1 8XL

A nice room, but we should have left when the manager refused to turn down the (bad) dance music he was playing. Amuse-bouche and starters were fine, but £18 for a tiny square of polenta as a main course was insulting, and the rabbit was a small handful of meat, indifferently cooked - too little for a starter and a joke as a £20 main. We left so hungry we had to go to a second restaurant.
This place clearly thinks it should have a Michelin star. I felt robbed.

A superb kitchen shop - beautiful pots, knives, crockery, cutlery and utensils from a leading designer. Not the biggest selection in London but the best quality.

Hmm.
Basically, fine but not as good as it should be.
Decor is hotel luxe - dark wood and white carpets. Service is friendly but not quite up to the level it should be for the price.
Food is a mix of fusion (wasabi prawns) and westernised Chinese - crispy duck, sea bass etc. Deserts are good but western and not amazing.
In essense, this is really 'Chinese' food for the expense account crowd. You won't have anything bad, but this is not really up to the price/location standard it aspires to, and you could have a much better meal for the money.
constantino3 Where would you say you could have a better meal for the money in London, if you don't mind letting us in on the secret?

Not sure what’s changed since the previous reviews, but we waited an hour for small portions of very indifferent food. Spicy, sticky, sweet Pad Thai? Gristly meat? Not worth it.
Sushi Gen - Hampstead

A decent little sushi place. not much ambience, but they do takeaway and the food is a cut above the chains. I’d need a few more visits to decide if it’s as good as Jinkichi up the road. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

A very good restaurant, set on a mezzanine overlooking the bar in the lobby of this very smart and very modern hotel.
Quiet (except when the bar below is full), fairly laid-back, individual, elegant and a bit corporate (in a good way) - don’t bring a date here but for a business lunch or dinner it will be ideal. Less 'power lunch’ than the Axis restaurant in the basement below.

The best sausages in London!

Not bad. there’s a plush lounge downstairs that serves all manner of cocktails but not many of the classics), and upstairs a decent grill - steak, scallops, oysters etc. Nothing amazing but perfectly competent. The atmosphere is dark and wouldbe-’funky’.
Hunan Restaurant - Chelsea
51 Pimlico Road, Chelsea, London SW1W 8NE

Seriously good, rather spicy chinese food. A nice little restaurant on a square in Pimlico. As the other reviewers said, just go for the chef’s selection and you’ll get a seemingly never-ending flow of wonderful food.
You’ll probably spend £50 per person or so.
Beniha - Swiss Cottage

Hmm. The food isn’t bad - grilled steak, fish and shrimp, cooked in front of you by a cook reeling off bad jokes, playing with the food, twirling his knives and catching mushrooms in his hat.
The ambience and decoration is best described as 'cross-channel ferry’.
So, people who like this kind of thing will find that this is exactly the kind of thing they like.
Expensive for what you get (£26 for a small portion of chopped steak and vegetable soup in Swiss Cottage?)
The Japanese equivalent of those Aberdeen Steakhouses in central London.
