The pub has gone way uphill since Scott has taken over this pub, its now clean and although its till a working mans pub it is now worth a visit and is one of the cheapest establishments within the town centre.

The bar staff are now friendly apart from a little monkey on a Saturday, who needs to understand that if the punters want to watch the footie match on a Saturday lunchtime, then he should not put his rugby on, as he does not like footie.

The toilets still need a overhaul and are still small and dingy. However it is now clean is far better than my last review.

What can I say about this pub.

Don’t go there.

I went there once, must have been on giro day. The place stunk and the windows, mirrors and furniture had not been cleaned for months.

The toilets are truly awful.

I brought a pint and the smell coming from behind the bar was actually turning my stomach. I left the bar without finishing my pint and have never been back.

It does seem like the unemployed alchoholics use this pub.

An okay pub, but a typical Weatherspoons no atmosphere and if your on your own, it can be rather boring.

Seem to get a few regulars in there, the ones who you see drinking at 10am and are still there at tea time and beyond.

Only been in their the once and will not go back. Pub was empty and staff although not rude were not very friendly.

It has no character and I would have expected more of the pub at The Hard.

Limited range of draught beers and the pint I brought had a slight tang to it. So I left after finishing it and will never go back.

However one evening I went past it did seem busy, so maybe I did not catch it on a good day. But there are better pubs on the Hard.

Nice place, just on the edge of the town centre as your coming in on the A72 from Peebles. However there is no parking and double yellow lines outside. My advice would be to park in B&Q or Halfords car park, just before you get to it.

The bar area is comfortable with sofa’s and there is a terrace with a few tables out the front, overlooking the road. But dont sit there go to the back of the resturant and there is an area above and over looking Gala Water, far better and no traffic streaming past.

Found the drink to be okay. But the food was really good. I had the mussels in a white wine and bacon sauce, yummy!! We all had a good meal in there.

It is also quiet, I think mainly because it is right at the edge of the town centre, but becuase of this, it makes a nice place to sit, eat and have a conversation.

Downside, if I was not eating, I would not go there just for a pint.

Working in Portsmouth and have started using this pub on a regular basis now. It has a bit of a feel of a Wetherspoons type pub, although it is not.

The food seems reasonable for what you pay and the drinks are very reasonably priced for a central pub. e.g. the moment there is a a deal on Carslberg at £1.99 a pint.

On a nice day there is outside uncovered seating with views across the Harbour to Gosport and there is covered outside seating to the side for more duller days.

Certainly one of the better public houses at the Hard.

Un gran hotel limpio con unas ochenta habitaciones junto al río Ouse, cerca de un puente que te lleva justo al centro. Un poco de historia: parece que fue construido en 2000 y fue devastado por una riada justo después de abrir. Salió en la tele, con los inquilinos salvados en bote. Dos pequeñas cosas que me evitan darle cinco estrellas: no hay servicio de habitaciones, así que sin desayuno en la cama. La otra es el precio del bar para ciertas bebidas, aunque no está tan mal ya que hay muchos pubs y restaurantes en los alrededores. Si buscas un hotel limpio y cómodo por precio razonable y sin lujos, no te equivocarás con éste.

Un bel hotel propre avec 80 et quelques chambres, situe sur la riviere Ouse, pres d'un pond qui vous emmener droit au centre ville. Un peu d'histoire que j'ai appris - il a ete construit en 2000 et a ete detruit par l'enorme innondation. C'est passe a la tele, avec des residents sauves en bateaux. Deux petites choses qui font que je ne lui donne pas 5 etoiles, la premiere - pas de room service, donc pas de petit dejeuner au lit. La deuxieme c'est le prix de certaines boissons au bar, bien que ca ne soit pas si grave, car il y a beaucoup de pubs et restaurants a quelques pas de la. Si vous cherchez un hotel propre a des prix raisonables et pas de chichis, c'est l'endroit.

Nice wee cinema, reasonable prices. Surprisingly for the size of the place, there is four screens.

Nice village pub/resturant and hotel.

I can’t comment on the Hotel as I have never stayed there.

The public bar is somewhat on the small side but is homely and I have always received a welcome.

The food is of good standard and is nice for a family/friends quiet night out. Especially as they have now opened the conservatory up to diners.

Worth a visit

Un hôtel pub/restaurant de village plutôt sympa. Je ne peux pas parler de l'hôtel car je n'y ai jamais séjourné. Le bar est un peu petit mais convivial et j'ai toujours reçu un excellent accueil. La cuisine est bonne et c'est bien pour une soirée en famille ou avec des amis. Surtout maintenant qu'ils ont ouvert la véranda pour les dîneurs. Il mérite le détour.
