I know some reviewers have found fault with Brown's for various reasons - but it is still one of my favourite places to eat. The steaks are amazing - the wine list really good and full and the deserts lovely.
The on-line "friends of Browns" club is really good and gets you a discounted meal and wine for two, as well as access to a special cheaper 2 course menu.
I would agree some of the male staff may show more interest in themselves than the customers but what the hell...some of them are quite hot and the food is good - what's not to like!

Think this should be named Harrowing not the Harrow Inn…the bar is to be polite dingy and to be impolite a complete and utter tip…I don’t recommend that you sit on any of the seats if you are wearing any light colours.

The DJ seems to stand right at the door of the ladies loo which does not in anyway cause a problem when everyone is trying to request songs and you are desperate…not.

That being said the pubs only saving grace is Karaoke night which is always funny and produces some of the funniest attempts at signing you will ever hear.

I spent a long summer working in this store and with it’s view out onto Bank Street Gardens it was a bit of a nightmare seeing everyone sunbathing while I worked.

The shop its self is small but has a good selection of all your favourite tipples as well as a range of sweets and snacks. The chocolates selection is great for any mothers day pressies you have forgotten to buy and the spirits always help out for birthdays.

The checking ID procedures of the staff sometimes appear a little severe and can hold up the queues…but never mind!

Asda has been a great addition to the shopping in Galashiels offering some overdue competition to Tesco.

Their pricing is really good and even their clothing range has items which are ideal for work but maybe not for an important night out.

Their range of electrical items is really good and really well priced, along with a good selection of music, videos and games. The cafe is also really good and although slightly further away from the town centre than Tesco it is really worth a visit.

I love the pavillion as it is like going back in time.

The staff are really friendly and collect your ticket at the door…you can buy popcorn at a price which is not so high you have to sell a child and the 4 screens mean the cinema is intimate enough that you can engage easily with a film without feeling like it is a completely impersonal and mass participation event.

New films can take a bit of a while to make it to Gala but I would go here rather than to a massive multiplex anytime.

For some reason this Greggs does not quite match up in quality to the ones available in Edinburgh and elsewhere.

Not sure what the problem is but things just don’t taste the same and the staff don’t seem to have grasped the concept of convenience and fast food.

The prices are reasonable as in all Greggs but again the quality lets them down!

Learned to drive with this school and I can highly recommend them. Really careful to make sure you are ready for your test but don’t do that annoying driving school thing of selling you loads more lessons than you need.

The instructor is really patient and professional and has a nice Renault megane which is not as embarrasing to be seen in as some driving school cars.

Would recommend them to anyone.

Acorn pet centre has recently moved from the centre of town to a much larger store in the small shopping precint. This has allowed them to hold a lot more stock and animals meaning that it is a great shop for a visit if you are trying to entertain small nephews or neices.

They have a good selection of animal related gifts and accessories for the furry little friend in your life…oo-err missus!

Unfortunately I wont be buying a car here again…have bought 2 new cars from lees and on both occasions thay have not delivered what was promised.

While the mechanics are really professional and helpful the owner of the establishment it unfortunately not so…promises made about features of cars are not met and his response to this is really poor…wont be back!

Oh dear…over rated over heightened idea of its own stylishness alert!!!!

Visited this pub after reading other reviews…sadly!

This pub loves its self so much and sadly thinks everyone loves it too! A recent refurbishment seemed to stretch to a new bit of carpet and a couple of pictures…woo hoo good job…would have been better to have spent some money teaching the staff how to mix a drink or pour a pint…what a disappointment!
