Steins garage - Edinburgh

18 Gordon Street, Edinburgh, Scotland EH6 8NA

25.08.2008 (aktualisiert am 13.12.2010)

As a female driver, I can't help but be suspicious of garage owners when it comes time for the dreaded MOT and service - you never know if you really need all that work done or not! Well at Steins they always go through everything with me and explain so I understand what needs done and why. They are also very reasonably priced and I always feel as if I get a good deal. If you want great service I can highly recommend Steins Garage.

Service Point - Edinburgh

12 Drumsheugh Place, Edinburgh, Scotland EH3 7PT

29.08.2008

The staff at Service Point have helped me with a number of print and copying problems. They take the time to lisen to what it is you require and then work with you to help find a solution. Their turnaround times are fantastic, however they can be a little pricey.

Prontaprint - Edinburgh

15A Howe Street, Edinburgh, Scotland EH3 6TE

29.08.2008

this branch of Prontaprint has very helpful, friendly staff who will actually go out of their way to help find a solution for you. Prontaprint offers design services and help as well as just a print service. The prices are also very reasonable as is the quality.

Nationwide Building Society - Edinburgh

71 George Street, Edinburgh, Scotland EH2 3EH

29.08.2008

I honestly cannot fault the staff at Nationwide at all. Being the only Nationwide branch in the city centre, it is always busy. However the staff are always helpful and efficient as well as pleasant. The only thing I would say is that there should be more than 2 teller stations, however this is not the staff’s fault.

99 Hanover Street - Edinburgh

99 Hanover Street, Edinburgh, Scotland EH2 1DJ

29.08.2008

A nice pub with a traditional feel which includes high ceilings, exquisite candelabras and lights combined with old, almost tatty sofas and other furniture. Despite the pub being quite large (or long), I can’t help feel they don’t make the best use of space as there is hardly anywhere to sit. Pricewise, 99 Hanover Street is comparable with most city centre pubs.

Ryans West End Bar - Edinburgh

2 Hope Street, Edinburgh, Scotland EH2 4DB

29.08.2008

Handy little bar to meet up with friends after work or as an initial meeting place to start your night out. There are usually tables outside which is nice in the good weather, and then a little conservatory area which is pleasant to sit in(though closed at night). The inside is nice enough with plenty of space and tables, however the place never seems to get going and lacks atmosphere.

Chimichanga - Edinburgh

178A Easter Road, Edinburgh, Scotland EH7 5QQ

29.08.2008

This tiny Mexican take away on Easter Road serves up quite authentic Mexican food - the full range is there including nachos, burritos, quesadillas, chilli and mole (a lovely Mexican dish of chicken in a sauce made of chocolate and peanuts - a must try!). The prices are a bit steep for what you get but then I guess they have limited competition for Mexican food in the area. They do deliveries at a charge.

Beehive Inn - Edinburgh

18-20 Grassmarket, Edinburgh, Scotland EH1 2JU

29.08.2008

The inside is of the Beehive is OK, the same as a lot of other pubs with nothing really special about them, however, what could be just yet another run of the mill pub for attracting the tourists on the grassmarket, is saved by its fantastic, huge beer garden. With plenty of seats and heaters, the only downside is that as this is still classed as a residential area the beer garden has to close at 9pm.

The Hudson Hotel - Edinburgh

9-11 Hope Street, Edinburgh, Scotland EH2 4EL

29.08.2008

Hudsons Bar is ok for after work drinks, however not really where you want to spend your whole night. The drinks are quite pricey but the bar lacks the atmosphere and nice surroundings that the bars on George Street have that can justify their prices. The small club downstairs isn’t really anything to write home about, however there is an R&B night on approx 1 night a month which is excellent.

Firewater - Glasgow

335 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, Scotland G2 3HW

29.08.2008

This is a great late pub in Glasgow city centre. The music is good (Indie, Rock, Punk) and the crowd are friendly, relaxed and most importly not pretentious atall. The prices are decent enough too - all the good ingredients for a great night out!
