v& a cafe - South Kensington

Cromwell Road, London SW7 2RL

30.09.2008

Franchised to Benugo’s. The food ranges from sandwiches to salads. Ther are also hot and cold main courses as well as cakes. Included is the food bar in the garden offering soup and sarnies. Kids menu for around £ for a drink, sarnie and sweet.
The atmosphere is functional and modern with imediate access to the galleries, exhibitions and the garden.
It is a self service system so it’s a quick turnaround and a choice of 3 rooms to eat in.

Alloro Restaurant - Mayfair

20 Dover Street, Mayfair, London W1S 4LU

30.09.2008

Alloro is a dark atmospheric restaurant, with a formal modern touch to the decor. It’s an archetipal west end power lunchtype place, with pleasant bar area for those waiting to be seated.
The food is very good, quite expensive though and the service is excellent.
It is in Mayfair so great location too!

cafe madeira - Westminster

vauxhall, London SW1P 3JX

30.09.2008

The converted arches of Albert Embankment host several shops and cafes and may not sppear very welcoming a first but trust me, Madiera cafe is worth a lunch stop
It is run by Portuguese people and the food is all Portuguese, and delicious at that too!
They have quick snacks like sandwiches and full on meals, the prices arent too bad either. There is alot of seating, the back is more formal with table clothes and a more sophisticated service, the front is more like a cafe and is ideal for having a quick snack.
Beware though, it gets noisy as the trains run over the cafe!!

The Hurlingham Club - Chelsea

Ranelagh Gardens, Fulham, London SW6 3PR

30.09.2008

Well this place is very exclusive! You need to be friend’s with a member to go but if you are lucky enough to know someone to take you then go for it! It is so unique and it’s in the middle of London! It’s got outdoor tennis, mini golf, putting, 2 pools, squash etc. Any sport, you name it. The changing rooms are lush, all really clean with towels and soaps and haridryers etc. The staff are very friendly and helpful and it’s the place to be on a summer’s day when sitting outside on the grounds with a chilled Pimms is heaven!

PizzaExpress - Fulham

895-896 Fulham Road, Fulham, London SW6 5HU

30.09.2008

This Pizza Express is no different from any other pizza express, the staff are friendly, the food is very good, the service is up to scratch and the venue is comfortable and welcoming.
They change the menu regularly and have special dishes according to the season with in season produce which makes me think that everything cooked, or at least most things are fresh.

The French House - Soho

49 Dean Street, Soho, London W1D 5BQ

30.09.2008

This place is wicked- it really feels like being in a bar in France, there are wine bottles covering the walls and they only serve beer in small half pint glasses.
The clientele tend to spill out onto the streets at here weekends as it gets rather crowded but that adds to the atmosphere and makes it feels even more continental.
It is in central London so great to start here for a few drinks before headin gout to a club. It shuts at 11pm so not the place for a late night.

The End & AKA Bar - West End

18 West Central Street, London WC1A 1JJ

30.09.2008

The End is, one of the greatest clubs in London. Saturday night is excellent but it’s definitely worth checking out what’s on as the line-ups vary greatly in music genre. It is quite big, so not a cosy little club but not big enough to lose your mates- perfect size inf act. The clientele is great, and most people are just happy to be there so they tend to be friendly.
I heard it may be shutting down though, so best to check before you head there.

Brown's Hotel - Mayfair

30 Albermarle Street, Mayfair, London SW1P 3JX

30.09.2008

This is a 5 star hotel and feels like one too. The service is excellent, the staff are all very polite, well spoken and efficient. The place is spotless with nice little touches like brand new soaps in the bar bathrooms etc.
There are also nice little perks for kids- the staff leave out presents on the beds if they know children are staying.
It is in central London so if you can afford to stay here, the location is ideal.

The British Library - Kings Cross

96 Euston Road, The British Library STB, London NW1 2DB

30.09.2008

This library is seriously huge but you will probably be able to find pretty much any book you are looking for! However it is not as easy as it sounds as you have to queue for ages to leave your coat in the cloakroom, then you have to queue up to register, then you have to queue up to request a book etc. It is a long process but they only way forward, so make sure you have a whole day or at least a few hours.

Excel - Canning Town

Compass Excel Cntr 1 Western Gateway, London E16 1XL

30.09.2008

This is a HUGE conference and event venue with a million and one different rooms and corridtors. The layout is actually quite simple once you get your head around it.
It’s not the easiest place to get to from central or west London but it is reached by DLR and has a number of hotels within walking distance. Inside Excel are coffee shops like Costa and shops like stationary shops.
