Situated just down a side street from the Grand Place, this statue cannot be said to sum up Brussels (I hope…..) However it certainly gives any weary tourists a cheerful burst of camera snapping! There is a small museum to the side of it and sometimes (and worthy of seeing), the little boy will be in a costume (peeing Santa anyone?)
Plus there is an AWESOME cafe serving lovely Belgian waffles just round the corner….

I remember going here was such a treat as a child, and it hasn’t lost its fantasy charm as I’ve grown older. The building itself just to look at from the outside is so typically and delightfully old English.
Each floor is totally unique with different selections of toys and gadgets and games. Unlike many toystores today there are always tester products out everywhere. Keep watching out or you will get hit!
The traditional guarding bears that have become so famous are still stood by the door. This unique quirk unites toy fans worldwide (on a recent flight in Asia I got shown a Hamley bear keyring by a boy of about six or seven. Hamleys was the ONLY English word he said to me!)
