As a previous person has written, Billy Lal's has been around for ages.

Last summer, I went back to visit my home area and picked up some good bargains there - including some games for the garden, ideal for keeping young visitors busy.

Even as I type, I have a little tray in front of the computer monitor. It holds my coffee cup and a snack so that when I jerk the table getting up, any coffee that spills out doesn't get onto the furniture or endanger the wiring.

A place like Billy Lal's is an opportunity to enjoy serendipity - the art of making accidental but happy discoveries.

One of my favourite restaurants - simply because of the stylish interior and great lighting.

The waiters look like they're from some Woody Allen film set in New York - they're all perfect for their roles.

And the food is reasonably priced, the portions good and you can spend a fair few hours there, wining and dining, and still not get stunned at the bill.

I love going there.
