This large pub in the university town Maynooth remains to be the hub of student life. Extremely busy on Wednesday & Thursday nights offering both a late night disco bar and live music. Very busy at weekends also with a slightly older and perhaps more local crowd. Great venue for watching sports and adequate pub-grub including carvery everyday. Drinks tend to be a little on the pricey side. Don’t miss out on the smoking area which is a far cry from glamorous but great fun!!!!

This award-winning restaurant situated in a beautiful old building cannot be missed. Offering a rustic yet innovative menu, including various different seafood and meat dishes, there is something for everyone here. The atmosphere is not as relaxed as the proprietors would like to think and depending on the crowd The Limetree can sometimes feel a bit formal. On the plus side, staff are always extremely friendly and helpful without being over-familiar. Prices are reasonable enough for the high standard of food and are in line with other restaurants in the Kenmare area.

Situated in the heart of Kenmare, PF’s offers a great selection of live music most nights including trad sessions, singer songwriters and rock bands. Usually a good atmosphere- especially if you sit near the bar. Food is only fair enough but in the evening it is the ideal spot for a cheap and cheerful meal in a lively setting. PF’s attracts a more alternative crowd but all are welcome!

Kenmare’s original late bar still attracts a large crowd once regular closing time draws near. Since the recent extension to the back, The Square Pint has become a much more enjoyable experience. The impressive smoking area has to be seen to be believed! There is usually a dj or live music playing most nights here. This is the place where inevitably everyone ends up at the end of the night.

Twist cafe is Maynooth is a gem in the heart of this university town. As the space is a little tight, you may have to wait for a table at busy times but it is definitely worth the short wait! The menu offers an extensive range of cafe-type food including salads, bagels, soups, pannini & wraps. There is also a fine selection of teas, coffees and smoothies available. The food here is affordable and tasty, with the best of ingredients used. Definitely a recommendation for those concerned with eating healthily… even the fry-up manages to not taste too greasy!!!

The Bush Hill Park feels like it hasn’t been affected by the passing of time. Unconcerned with being attached to the city of London, Bush Hill Park offers a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of cosmopoliton city life. This North London pub is great craic, everyone is very friendly and the general goal is to get drunk. There is no glitz and glam here, just a traditional pub with good pints, a pool table and a juke box- what more could you want!?

3 fade street (the bar with no name) can be identified by a snail over the door. This latest “hip” spot in Dublin was a huge disappointment. I just can’t help but feel that the fact that it has no name is massively contrived. Having only been there on a Saturday night, the place was overcrowded and full of posers who heard that this place was “cool”. The place lacked atmosphere due to the fact that everyone spent the night half listening to the conversation while glancing over their shoulders to spot fellow loser wannabies. I gave it one star as I got served quickly enough- this was the only positive thing about this awful place!

Opened in March 2008 this shop offers contemporary gifts for home, childrens clothes and toys. The clothing is quite unusual and this is the place if you want to find something special. Brands carried include French Connection and D’Arcy Brown. There is a wide selection of clothes and gifts for babies also. The selection of toys is very good, you will not find a Brat or Pokemon in this shop, but rather a lovely selection of wooden toys, science toys, knick knacks and books. The selection of Home items in Nest is brilliant. There is something for everyone in this shop!
