AMC Great Northern - 16 Cinemas - Manchester
Unit 2 The Great Northern, 235 Deansgate, Manchester, Greater Manchester M3 4EN
16.11.2008
Right across from the Hilton hotel in Manchester you can find the AMC cinema complex; it is in the same building as the virgin active gym. So if you are anything like me you can go work out at the gym hen pig out at the cinema. Personally I think this is a fairly decent cinema which offers many different screens’ so there is always a selection of movies you can pick from. The service is normally prompt and I think it’s about £6 or £7 each which is not too bad. Unfortunately I think the food here is a rip off, I love to get food when at the cinema, that is help the fun but even though the offer combo offers here it’s still about £8 for a drink and cheese nachos. Personally I like to go on Orange Wednesday that was you sort of compensate for the overpriced food. The cinema screens are clean and very comfortable and unlike some cinemas they are very spacious. I know I will definitely be going back due to convenience mostly.
Dexter's Grill - Manchester
The Trafford Centre, Manchester, Greater Manchester M17 8AA
16.11.2008
Today while shopping in the Trafford centre we stopped into Dexter’s for a burger. I had been advised previously this place do great burgers so I though it was worth a shot. Considering the shopping centre was s busy we were seated straight away. Unfortunately we had to be asked to be served; the staff didn’t seem overly keen to be working. When we did get the food it was delicious so I cannot fault that. Once we paid we thought it was a bit expensive so we looked at the recipe as we walked away. I was very angry to find that they had automatically taken a 12.5% service charge and not asked us. Apparently you have the option to opt out of this at the time of payment but afterwards it too late. I will not be eating here again.
Trafford Centre - Manchester
130 Peel Avenue, Manchester, Greater Manchester M17 8AA
16.11.2008
For about the 10th time this year I have just been to the Trafford centre. If you have never been here before and you like shopping then you are missing out. There are layers upon layers of shops and at this time of years there are lots of bargains to be had for Christmas. They have just about every shop you can find on the high street and more. Personally I spend most of my money today in River Island and top man. The idea was to go Christmas shopping but it’s so easy to get carried away. There is unlimited free parking and no matter how busy it is I am sure you won’t struggle to find a place. They have just about every type of food there so if you want a bit to eat you won’t struggle to find somewhere. They also have a runway that you can look down upon from a balcony, at this time of year all the designers are dying to show off their stuff. I know I will be back again within the next couple of weeks.
The Omelette - Hull
11-12 Albion Street, Hull HU1 3TD
16.11.2008
When I was in Hull last month to catch the ferry we stopped off and had a late lunch at the omelette house. This place has obviously been here for some time and is still very busy. Te restaurant is quite small and from the name I thought they would only sell one product but they actually sell a variety or other wheals as well as omelettes. The restaurant looks as though it has recently been refurbishes and is very clean and pleasant to the eye. To be honest we only stopped of here as it was local and quick and convenient. The food was good but it it’s by no means a place to go for special occasions or events. I would go again for a quick bite to eat if I was here again. I ordered sausage and chips and the price was very reasonable, the food was very nice
Rajah Indian Restaurant - Inverness
2 Post Office Avenue, Inverness, Highlands and Islands IV1 1DN
15.11.2008
Rajah is a great restaurant in the highlands of Scotland, in Inverness to be process. This restaurant prides itself on offering high quality food for anyone that crosses its path. I have only been here once and I must admit I was impressed with the food. From what I understand it is a long established restaurant in the area and it is very popular with the locals. The restaurant itself is not overly extravagant, it is fairly small but very authentic when you get inside, the music and the dim lighting give off a great atmosphere and you could almost feel like you are in India. I’m not a fan over hot curry so this place is good for me as they offer a wide variety of mild meals so there is something for everyone. It is not overly expensive for an Indian; I would go back again if I was in the area
Birnie Inn - Elgin
Birnie, Elgin, Scotland IV30 8SP
15.11.2008
If you like to eat and have a nice bit of scenery around you then you should pop into the Birnie Inn in Elgin. The restaurant is located just a few miles out and as far as I know it’s a small family business, this is one of my dad’s favourite places. Although the restaurant is a little rural the food is everything but. The offer many home cooked meals made from fresh local produce. The staffs are all very polite and friendly and happy to chat to you. This place seems to be popular amongst people of all ages, I have knows friends that have hired once of the halls here for a wedding reception and said it was great and they were looked after well. I likely it hear because not only is the food great it’s nice a quite out of the way
Bean's Cafe - Elgin
55 High Street, Elgin, Scotland IV30 1EE
15.11.2008
If you are ever in the north of Scotland you should visit Elgin, it’s a little town about 30 minutes from where I use to live. In Elgin there is a great little restaurant called Restaurant 55. The food here is amazing and to die for, to be honest there is not mush in the area so there is no doubt that when this place opened it would be really popular. The staffs prides themselves on taking local produce and making amazing meals to cater for everyone, this place has gotten some amazing reviews and it deserves them. They offer a wide variety of menus and have some amazing steak dishes so you will be stuck from choice. For me the desert menu was the selling point everything looks so good and as I watched everyone one else get their deserts I couldn’t wait to get through my main course. When I am back in the area I will be paying this place another visit.
Bizarre Bar Diner - Motherwell
Strathclyde Fun Park, Hamilton Road, Motherwell, Scotland ML1 3RT
15.11.2008
This place is a great day out for all the family, I have been here several time and really enjoy it. Firstly you go here for the rides and maybe the food but the staff in the park really don’t want to be there. There are quite a few rides here, nothing to spectacular as it no Alton towers but still it’s a great day out for the kids. They have a roller coaster and most of the normal rides you would expect to find at a place like this. They also have a massive indoor section for all the arcades and amusements. They also offer a restaurant which is quite expensive but they do amazing burgers. It always seems to be busy in the summer but without insulting the area there is not great deal else there
The oldmill hotel - Motherwell
Motherwell, Scotland ML1 3BY
15.11.2008
This place has very fond memories for me. My gran use to work here on reception and as children we went to visit her frequently and the staff were always very good with us. Since being an adult I have been back a few times and the building still holds very good memories. The hotel is an old mill and in the restaurant they have a glass floor and as you eat from the great menu you can watch the wheel turn the water beneath you, this is not something you get in many restaurants, and it’s a nice change. The building itself is very old and I love places like this. They offer some cook traditional British food on the menu. The restaurant is on the river bank and you could be mistaken for believing you are no longer in Mother well, if you are looking for a break this is the place to visit.
The Playwright - Dundee
11 Tay Square, Dundee, Scotland DD1 1PB
15.11.2008
If you are in Dundee and going to the Theatre then you should book yourself into The Playwright for a meal beforehand. The restaurant is actually quite small but on the other had it is very pleasant and really cosy. If you just fancy a few drinks then you will also be made welcome at the bar. The decor is actually quite posh and you feel like you are in a more upper class restaurant. For me the menu is not that great, they offer some decent meals and do a fairly decent A La Carte menu but I think the prices are a little on the steep side. The staffs are all very nice and friendly; if you are going to the theatre or having a classy night then it’s worth a visit.
