Sadly the neo-nazis… ok, CSU, CDU… their successors from Bavaria, have strangled this beautiful, convenient city center airport that the rest of the world would envy: think CHI, docklands in LON, Washington National, Midway, BOS, LaGuardia… ok,you get the idea!
BBI is an inconvenient dump an hour farther from the center… their next goal is to kill TEGEL. Dumb and Dumber!

This place is THE PITS. Berlin, or rather the reactionary - think US 'Repugs’ equivalent from the CDU in Bavaria and points south in Germany - have forced the city airport TEMPLEHOF to close and are now trying to close the convenient, easy to reach, well-served by public transport, and less than an over-all hour [20 min.] from central
Berlin airport, our TEGEL!
Avoid 'BBI’ if you possibly can.. It’s a long walk from the S-Bahn, in the cold and rain, there is NO lounge / facilities… no elevators at the S-Bahn station when you get there… just the looongg ramp from the 50’s … uuughhh! And when you do you wait 20 min for an hour long ride to the center of West Berlin!
The Krauts even rip you off extra, as they just conveniently 'zoned’ the BBI into the most remote - third ring - for fares! Another BBI RIP-OFF
One rip-off restaurant with that great oxymoron: “German Service”... that keeps hours known only to itself.
A TRUE relic of the DDR and the Russian occupation!
p,s, this dump is not even worth the required 'one star’... it’s SIBERIA.
