Drinksfusion - London

1 Caldwell Street, London SW9 0HD

01.06.2010

Yum yum yum yum yum.

Tasty, tasty drinks fusion.

I loved the Bloody Asparagus Mary (it probably has a real name), the watermelon gin combo and also the one with the rose in it.

I tasted them all, which is why my memory is a little hazy!

The guys who run the business are incredibly knowledgeable and great at conversing with the guests, why we even were subject to a bit of 'stealth learning' about the drinks, which is, of course, much more exciting than normal learning.

I'd recommend them for catering if you're having a soirée!

Saronimo I hope, there was asparagus in there too. Counting the watermelon too, thats 3 of my 5 a day!

thesussexidler Fantastic. I always enjoy a Diamond White for breakfast. Chalk me one up too!

Cobden Club - Maida Hill

170 Kensal Road, London W10 5BN

01.06.2010

I was relieved to find the inside of the Cobden club did not match the surroundings on the journey from the Tube station!

About a 10 minute walk from Westbourne Park, through an area with some rather unsavoury looking high rises, the cobden club is slightly out of the way, but it has been beautifully decorated with a much more modern feel inside than the industrial facade.

We were in the members bar for drinks, but upstairs there was a gig about to take place so the Cobden has many faces!

The staff were welcoming, smiley and polite. I can't comment on drinks prices as I wasn't buying, but the only thing I would say (and I'm not alone on this after the conversation I had with some ladies in the lavatories!) they could do with a lift!

Hotel U Prince - Prag

Old Town Square 29, Praha 1, 110 00 Praha

13.04.2010

As with Alisiemar, I wish I could have stayed here, but a bit out of my budget!

Nevertheless, they kindly let us commoners have a drink on the gorgeous roof terrace (as long as we behave ourselves, of course!)

The drinks were quite pricey in comparison to some of the places in Prague, but no more expensive than London!

The views are absolutely exquisite on a good day, a 360 degree vista makes for a really relaxing wind down after a hard-days sightseeing!

Blue Light Bar - Prag

Josefska 1, Praha

13.04.2010

This bar is situated in the winding side-streets of Prague.

We came here one evening and holed ourselves up for hours drinking cocktails! They have a large cocktail list (almost too large, it was hard to decide!) which are all reasonably priced.

It has a 'studenty' feel to it, possible because of the price and it was fairly international when we went in! The music was a bit of a mix, I seem to remember, although I can't really remember much of it (ahem) so that might mean it was inoffensive and generic!

We were recommended it to a friend who had been to Prague the week before and liked it so we passed on the details to another friend going the week after and he thought it was a great little place too, resounding endorsements!

Café Louvre - Prag

Národní 22, 11000 Praha

13.04.2010

Since Kafka used to hang out here, it's only right that one should visit Cafe Louvre on a trip to Prague!

It's fairly easy to find on a main road and has a large seating area spanning the whole premises with a billiards hall at the back.

It can be quite smokey, but there range of food and drink is impressive, and not too badly priced either! The decor is typically art deco and has high ceilings and a vast number of different sized tables, which is handy for different sized groups!

You can come here for a morning coffee or full meal in the evening, or just to chill out and discuss literature!

Pizza On The Park - Knightsbridge

11-13 Knightsbridge, London SW1X 7LY

26.01.2010

This is a lovely little pizza place overlooking Hyde park. I believe it is part of the Pizza Express family, but a slightly more upmarket version!

They have a good menu with a mix of tasty pasta, pizza and salads, with a standard wine list and standard deserts. The food was tasty, fresh and arrived very quickly.

When I was here we were downstairs watching a live jazz performance, which is a great venue, really cozy and intimate with a great sound for what it is!

This is a really cute place, good for a date, family get-togethers or meeting an old friend!

Amberjack - Shoreditch

38 hoxton square, London N1 6NN

15.12.2009

There's always new little places popping up round Hoxton. I think this used to be a tapas bar but it now a cocktail bar with Japanese/Korean food.

The bar is nicely decorated, strangely has minature action heroes dangling from the lights (and why not?!) and Christmas decorations (seasonal, I presume)

The food was actually really tasty, with fresh ingredients and the sushi made on the spot. they have a good selection of beers/wine/cocktails/saki/plum wine!

The Breakfast Club - Shoreditch

2-4 Rufus Street, Hoxton, London N1 6PE

08.12.2009

I loved this place!

It has a real retro feel to it and seems to be separated into 'rooms' - dining room, kitchen and lounge!

They have really thought through the decor in here and made it a lovely atmosphere. They also played some brilliant retro tunes as well!

We opted for the cocktails of rhappy hour (£4 - usually £6) and between us had nachos, fried hallumi, burritos and wedges. Yum! Really good food!

One of the highlights has to be the toilets! They are all decked out with retro wall paper - one if covered floor to celiging in ghost-busters wallpaper! And there is a disco ball in the waiting area to keep you occupied in a queue!

It'd be a really good place for a first date!

Wysteria Lane - Shrewsbury

12 Dogpole, Shrewsbury, Shrewsbury, Shropshire SY1 1EN

04.12.2009

I recently did a little bit of Christmas shopping online here and had the items delivered today!

They were beautifully packaged and came with an invoice in a little hand-written card! I love little touches like that!

There are some gorgeous items in there, gifts, home items, for him, for her...

Love it!

Amber - Moorgate

1 Ropemaker Street, London EC2Y 9AW

03.12.2009

I came here for a cocktail making masterclass hosted by Kelly (Winenut) and had a really good time!

Great company aside, the venue has many areas that can be hired out for all sorts of Office 'dos', some are behind a curtain and private and some are just 'sectioned' off.

The bar has a great selection of wine, beers and spirits, not to mention a vast cocktail list that has happy hour with 50% off!

There is also a menu for bar snacks, your classic 'potato wedges' and all that jazz!
