    Builders Arms

The Builders Arms is so far the best pub I've yet been able to find in Kensington and Chelsea.

It's tucked away in an astonishingly quiet neighbourhood between Gloucester Road and Kensington High Street so it's often remarkably quiet. The bar staff are friendly and knowledgeable, there is great lighting and very comfortable seating. There is a very broad selection of beers and ciders, including lagers, belgian witbiers, german weissbiers, bitters and ales.

Not a cheap pub by any stretch of the imagination but nevertheless the prices compare favourably to those of most other pubs in the borough. Having a few pints there this is worth the money, which is more than can be said for most other nearby pubs. A Hoegaarden and a Jack and Coke came to £6.85 the last time I was there. This is somewhat at odds with my student budget but I'm never short of excuses to go back there! The bar staff will quickly begin to recognise a familiar face and get to know you.

The food is fairly well priced and of a good standard, especially the £5 full English (excellent for a Sunday morning hangover).

If you want to avoid the more-affluent suit-wearing wine-drinking sort of punter, get there before 9pm on a weekday and you'll feel like you've discovered something special.
