Das Halfway House (auf halbem Weg zwischen dem Hauptbahnhof Waverley und der Royal Mile gelegen) wurde von der Campaign for Real Ale im Jahr 2005 zum schottischen Pub des Jahres gewählt - zu Recht.
Von den Räumlichkeiten her etwas klein, passt neben einer reichhaltigen Speisekarte mit schottischen Spezialitäten verschiedene Standardbiere, eine lange Latte von Single Malt Whyskies und 5 tägliche wechselnde Gastbiere in diesen Pub.
Wer also einen Überblick über schottisches Essen und (echtes) britisches Ale bekommen will, sollte hier auf jeden Fall vorbeischauen.

The Halfway House (halfway between Waverley Station and the Royal Mile, that is) has been voted Scotland's Pub of the Year by CAMRA in 2005 and to be honest, I'm not surprised.
Admittedly, it doesn't appear to big at first, but there is actually room for a menu full of Scottish delicacies (and we are not talking about deep-fried specialities here), a large selection of Whiskies, and no less than 5 guest beers each day (on top of the standard beers).
So if you feel peckish, or like a real ale, or both, the Halfway House is definitely worth a try.
