Southampton Airport is just so easy to get to. I live near Oxford and find it usually takes less than an hour (60 miles) whereas travelling to London airports, although similar distance is always a nightmare journey with traffic. As it's a small airport it's less confusing when you get there too. Obviously not the huge range of shopping as at bigger airports but there's a good duty free shop, newsagent and a cafe on both sides of passport control.
Parking is alwayshassle-free, and when I left my headlights on for two weeks I was relieved to find a friendly member of staff came within five minutes to jump-start my car!
