The Hackesche Höfe is an ensemble of beautifully restored Art Nouveau buildings. Many small stores and shops have been established in the buildings surrounding the courts that are referred to as the "Höfe", very typical for Berlin architecture. There even is a cinema in one of the upper floors of one of the buildings. Picturesque and a important place to understand the the looks of Berlin before WW II.
