This is an impressive corner pub, named after the Crimean War battle of 1854 (the name on the pub's parapet can be seen from the platforms of nearby Wandsworth Town railway station - a good example of early advertising).

The exterior has an impressive and attractive early 20th century decorative scheme of green tiling, which is perfectly preserved. The interior - although modernised - is still impressive, comprising a large single room with an island bar, an elaborate frieze running along the walls, a series of hand-painted mirrors and some original gas-light fittings.

The emphasis is as much on food as drinking, with lots of tables for dining, although there's a good choice of real ales, including Young's Bitter and Special, Charles Well Bombardier and (seasonal) Young's Winter Warmer. Service was efficient and reasonably friendly. I've not tried the food, but it has a good reputation locally. There's a function room upstairs which is licensed for Civil Marriages, if you fancy getting hitched in a pub!

Located very close to Wandsworth Town railway station.
