Walking through Victoria Square I always think ‘this is the perfect example of how much people underestimate this city’. The square, and its surrounding side streets (including Colmore Row) easily compete with other European cities in terms of beautiful architecture. It’s a million miles away from what most Londoners seem to assume Birmingham is like when I talk to them.
The square has been host to everything from an urban beach to the much-hyped Christmas market, and it doesn’t matter what time of year you visit, you’ll always find people sat on the steps or around the fountain, enjoying the peace away from the Bullring or watching the news on the big screen.
I still have no idea what the Iron Man is there for, though…
