Yeah, well - searching for this place reminded me of places like “milk and honey” or “please don’t tell” in NYC. It’s charming, but also weird when you go into a backyard and have to look for an entrance hidden behind dumpsters, beer bottles and other “not so nice” smells.
Inside, you are kinda surprised to find a temple of food, because that is literally how good the food was. So anyway, we got in, found the way up and were seated. They proposed a menu (28 EUR/person) for the night from which we selected starters, mains and desert.
Together with the menu we ordered two glasses from the open wine because we were a bit overwhelmed with the selection of wines - both brands and price. ;)
The interior is pretty bland - concrete walls, grouped tables, relaxed atmosphere, the service people are more than casual, despite most of the people eating there - Mitte-victims, hipster type of people and a couple regulars.
Unfortunately I don’t remember all the food I had, let’s just say most of it was very, very delicious. Though sometimes you are caught up between great presentation and an alright taste. For example, my starter was a soup of tomato pepper extract which was alright, but not great. Tasted way to watery. My mains was excellent, actually - way beyond excellent. Presentation was always great.
For my mains, among other things on my plate, I had with peas stuffed zucchini blossom. Which I remember from Italy, and it was beyond great. Just this dish alone is a reason to go back there. ;) My desert was delicious too - a combination of ice (apple extract something), a moose and pieplant. Yummy! As I said, unfortunately I don’t remember all the goodness.
All in all, this is a pretty interesting place. I think that notorious meat eater will discover a whole different perspective to vegetarian food. This is a perfect set to take people out or meet some people and share a couple bottles of wine. And if you need to impress someone on a date, I think taking them to this place doesn’t hurt either.
We spent almost 90 EUR for the entire dinner, so be aware. It’s a “bit” pricey, but you get lots for it.
Stichworte vegetarian, delicious, pricey, hipsters
