If you want to experience the truly authentic taste and style of traditional Italian eating, this is the place to come. From the waiting-staff’s (singular!) pristine whites (including a flat cloth, beanie-style cap) to the rustic-feel, wooden-decked room, you know this is the real deal, as soon as you enter the premises.
Dishes change daily and there is a limited choice on offer. The first time I visited, on a late-ish Saturday lunchtime, I was ravenous and decided to stay even though there were no fish or vegetable-based dishes that I had been hoping for. Instead I had a well-roasted chicken portion and salad. The chicken was way over-salted for my taste but the salad, service and atmosphere were unbeatable.
The uniquely typical factor here is that next door is a take-out section (with a separate entrance) offering the same dishes available in the restaurant. I returned here on a Friday and had some mouthwateringly delicious cooked fish-of-the-day (a selection of several varieties and sizes) that surpassed all expectations. Very reasonably priced and busy.
