I spent a whole cold february day at the beautiful castle, it’s totally worth seeing and taking your time as well. Even if its just for the amazing veiws of Edinburgh.
Get a Historic Scotland pass, I got one for 3 days, which you can see how many of Historic Scotland places you can see in 3 days. at about £20 its well worth it, I got in Urqhart, Stirling and St Andrews Castles and Fort George.
The little chapel was lovely, the military museums (2nd Dragoons) were interesting, it really does take a whole day to get around and take in everything.
I got a audio thingy which enriched the experience with detail, but don’t get one for all the castles you visit as you will get sick of James I!
Wasn’t really that impressed with the cafe though or the lack of choice of food, but oh well!
