L’Avenue is a classic show-off place in Paris targetting the local media crowd, the local and foreign shoppers from Avenue Montaigne (Dior is across the street, Chanel on the other side, Chloe not far, ... sooo convenient), and the rest of us who don’t mind paying a lot of money for average food in nice surrounding and a good location. Waitresses tend to be pretty, prettier than what gets in your plate in fact so clearly noone is there for the food, and wear mini mini clothes (well it was hot today in paris so I guess it was justified). Some of them take their job very seriously and feel a bit on a catwalk… except that it is not one. The deco is classic Costes (garcia-designed) so no surprise there and it’s rather nice with decent space between the tables. There is even a nice terrasse which is a major attraction, particularly if you are into people-watching. So if you want to catch a glimpse of Paris on its pretentious and show-off side, that’s definitely a place to go to. If you want to have an enjoyable meal and proper atmosphere and service…. keep looking on Qype!
