This place is best visited lunchtime, mainly for the dim sum served direct from heated trolleys wheeled around the restaurant, just like they used to do it in the past in Canton and the Far East. There is always a wide selection, and the waiters are only too happy to show you the choices from their individual trolleys. My favourites are siew mai, har kow, bean curd rolls and har cheong. I also like the curried squid, steamed whelks and even the chicken feet, along with the fried squid balls.
The food is always tasty and invariably fresh, but it does not really quite match the proper dim sum in places like Hong Kong or Malaysia. However, it’s a fun way to have lunch and it’s always great to explore the dim sum selection with friends, as you can try more dishes then. It’s not particularly cheap but nor is it too expensive either so if you are in the area, do drop in to try dim sum served the old traditional way.
By the way, they also do a great fried rice noodle dish with beef. My daughters really love this dish!
