This is Hamburg's oldest backpackers located right in the "cool" heart of town: Schanzenviertel. Instant Sleep is only a walk across the street to the Rote Flora, the legendary cultural centre of lefties, sprayers, punks and other subculturalists.
Next door is also Saal II, a great place to tuck into a healthy Hamburg breakfast accompanied by a morning paper.
The rooms are all lovelingly decorated around varying themes and there is also a guest kitchen and a lively common room. Prices start at around 25 euro. Staff is only moderately friendly but speaks fluent English.
